Pamatujete si článek, který jsem napsala asi před rokem, kdy jsem byla součástí blog tour Alexe Owumiho? Jestli ano, tak jsem na vás opravdu pyšná, ale jestli ne, tak si ho můžete přečíst tady. Tenhle rok jsem součástí jeho blog tour znovu ku příležitosti vydání jeho nové knihy The Man In Forest Hills, která vychází dnes 13. listopadu 2018.

Alex Owumi se narodil v Lagosu v Nigerii a když mu bylo jedenáct, přestěhoval se do Spojených Států. Jeho debutová kniha QUADDAFI’S POINT GUARD se stala bestsellerem. Jedná se o neuvěřitelný příběh profesionálního hráče basketbalu lapeného v Libyjské občanské válce. Jeho první román THE FIRE RAVEN se dostal na Amazonu mezi top pět v kategorii thriller. Alex Owumi je také profesionálním hráčem basketbalu v Evropě a momentálně hraje za the British Basketbal League.

Napsal pět knih. Tou první je Quaddafi’s Point Guard, která je jeho autobiografií. Jako další napsal trilogii o dívce jménem Raven, která je nájemným vrahem – assassinem. A nyní vychází jeho nová kniha The man In Forest Hills.

Anotace knihy:

Být detektivem v Bostonu není lehké, a při tak vysoké kriminalitě, je vynucení práva jediná šance, jak nastolit řád. Jedním z nejlepších detektivů ve státě je Thomas Kent, zarputilý realista, který nikdy nepřekračuje pravidla. S pomocí svého oddělení snížil kriminalitu ve městě, ale také si vybudoval hodně nepřátel. Celé roky bojuje s největším drogovým překupníkem ve městě, Cecilem Chambersem. Chambers obchoduje na ulicích víc jak dvacet let. Detektiv Kent a jeho parťák, Darren Harper, konečně nacházejí způsob, jak dostat Chamberse a jeho neslavnou partu jednou provždy. Ale právě ten týden, kdy dostanou Cecila Chamberse za mříže, vše nabere neočekávaný směr. Detektiv Kent se probudí v nemocnici s obvazy po celém těle a naprosto netuší, co se mu stalo. Když zjistí, že jeho žena a jediný syn byli zavražděni, začne bezodkladně pátrat po odpovědích. Když zjistí, kdo je do toho zapletený, vidí, že odpovědi, které potřebuje, nejsou tak daleko, jak si myslel. Musí však čelit realitě – odpovědi nezíská, když zůstane detektivem. A tak se nakonec z Thomase Kenta, který se pyšně honosil svým odznakem, stává muž, který ví, že pomsta je jediným východiskem.

Poslala jsem Alexovi pár otázek a tady jsou jeho odpovědi. Snažila jsem se vymyslet nějaké originálnější, tak snad se vám budou líbit.

1) Ve vaší předchozí trilogii byla hlavní postavou žena. Proč jste se nyní rozhodl psát o mužské hlavní postavě? Změnilo to nějak váš styl psaní? Bylo psát tuto postavu těžší nebo lehčí?

Vždycky do svých knih rád vytvářím unikátní postavy, ať už mužské nebo ženské. V mých knihách se vždy objevuje silná ženská hrdinka a tady tomu není jinak. Není zde žádný rozdíl v mém stylu psaní, ale psát tuhle postavu bylo určitě těžší.

2) Vypadá to, že hlavní postavy ve vašich knihách mají hodně společného. Proč si myslíte, že tomu tak je?

Myslím, že postavy jsou podobné a velmi rozdílné zároveň. Vše se to točí kolem nějaké výzvy, která je může posílit, nebo zlomit.

3) Přemýšlel jste někdy o tom, že byste napsal knihu v úplně jiném žánru?

Jednou se chci vrátit k psaní literatury faktu, ale pro teď zůstanu u fikce.

4) Máte v hlavě hodně námětů pro nové knihy? Je těžké se rozhodnout, který zrealizovat první?

V hlavě mám až moc nápadů na nové knihy a pro autora je vždycky těžké se rozhodnout, který vybrat dřív.

5) Co máte teď v plánu, když jste úspěšně dopsal a vydal další knihu?

Mám v plánu napsat další knihu a také k ní natočit krátký film.

Do you remember my article I wrote about a year ago when I was a part of Alex’s Owumi blog tour? If so I am really proud of you but if not you can check it out here.  This year I am a part of his Blog Tour again for his new book The Man In Forest Hills which was published today November 13^th 2018.

Alex Owumi was born in Lagos Nigeria, and moved to the United States at the age of eleven. He is the best-selling author of QUADDAFI’S POINT GUARD: The incredible story of a professional basketball player trapped in Libya’s civil war which was an international bestseller. His debut novel 'The Fire Raven' had a top five debut on the Amazon bestseller list under Thriller/Suspense. He is also a professional basketball player in Europe and is currently playing in the British Basketball League.

He wrote overall fife books. The first was Quaddafi’s Point Guard, which is basically his autobiography. The next one was his thriller trilogy about a girl named Raven, who is assassin. And now he released his new book The Man In Forest Hills.

Description of the book:

Being a detective in the city of Boston is no easy task, and with the crime rate sky high, law enforcement is the only hope of getting things back in order. One of the best detectives in the state is Thomas Kent, a hard-nosed, by the book type, who doesn’t bend the rules for anyone. With the help of his department, he has taken down some of the biggest criminals in the city, and has also made a lot of enemies as well. For years he has battled with the biggest drug kingpin in the city, Cecil Chambers. Chambers has been corrupting the streets for more than twenty years. Detective Kent and his partner, Darren Harper, have finally caught a break to bring down Chambers and his infamous crew once and for all. But the week Cecil Chambers gets behind bars is when it all takes an unexpected turn. Detective Kent wakes up in a hospital with bandages all over his body and no recollection of what has happened to him. He finds out that his wife and only son have been killed, so he immediately starts to look for answers. When he finds out who is involved, he realizes the answers he needs are not too far away. He comes to the reality that in order for him to get answers he can’t approach this as a detective. At the end of it all, Thomas Kent goes from a man who unapologetically honors the shield to a man who knows revenge is the only way.

I sent Alex Owumi a couple of questions and here are his answers. I tried to come up with interesting questions so hopefully you will like them.

1) Your previous trilogy was about the female main character. Why did you decide to write about man main character now? Did it make any difference in your writing style? Was this character harder or easier to write?

I usually like to develop unique characters in all my books whether male or female. I will always have a strong female character which is what is also in this book. It doesn't make any difference in my writing but this character was harder to write for sure.

2) Your main characters in your books seem to be similar in a lot of things. Why do you think it is like that?

I think the characters are similar and very different at the same time. The all have to go through some kind of conflict that can make or break them.

3) Did you ever think about writing a book in a completely different genre?

I want to go back to writing non-fiction one day but for now I will stick to fiction.

4) Do you have a lot of ideas for new books in your head? It's hard to decide which one to put on paper first?

I have too many ideas for books in my head and for a writer it is very difficult to just pick one.

5) I am curious about your plans in the future after your book is done. Do you have something in mind?

I have new plans to put out new books. I plan to put together a well produced short film for my next book.
